| About Us . . . Frogfurlong Cottage Guest House is situated in the green Belt area within the triangle formed by Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury. The cottage itself is what remains of 5 C18th cottages, 3 of which were knocked down and the remaining 2 extended and modernised into the house, pretty much as it is now. The cottage stands well back from the little Frogfurlong Lane and is surrounded on all sides by fields. When they were first built, the cottages were rented out from the main owner; Thomas Pear to his various brothers and sisters for a ‘peppercorn rent’ As to the name, ‘Frogfurlong’ - no-one knows, there are no documents that give any explanation as to what it means. It gives considerable enjoyment to the postman however as we often get mail addressed to “Frog Fell on Cottage” and “Frog Fellow Cottage” also, people seem to be unable to resist putting pictures of frogs on envelopes. We (Anna & Clive Rooke) plus our assorted dogs and cats (all rescued) hope to welcome you to Frogfurlong Cottage. Both our guest rooms are small, wholly self-contained cottages; one (The Pool Room) where the pigs were kept and the other (The Garden Room) was where the pony and trap were kept. |
| Location . . . We are ideally placed for visits to the Cotswolds, National Hunt Racing, Prescott Hill Climb, Royal Forest of Dean, Severn Vale and Malvern Hills. The cities of Gloucester and Cheltenham are but a few minutes away whilst Bristol, Bath, Stratford-on-Avon and Oxford are all within easy reach. Local places of interest include National Waterways Museum and Historic Docks, Newent Falconry Centre, Three Choirs Vineyard, Prinknash Abbey, Tewkesbury Abbey, Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust and Nature in Art, Gloucester Antique Centre. |
