Ellen House bed and breakfast accommodation on the Matlock outskirts enjoys a quiet location yet is an easy walk from the town centre, its amenities and the bus and railway stations. This Edwardian house is well appointed with quality furnishings.
Each bedroom has unique touches with great attention paid to detail to ensure that extra degree of comfort. There's an attractive terraced garden with views of the town and countryside for your use.
However, it's the hospitality, and even pampering, which makes our B&B that little bit more special, for example the trays in the bedrooms stocked with home made goodies. You will have a relaxing stay and an unforgettable experience.
We'll give you a great English or Continental breakfast made with ingredients sourced locally. Our specialty is vegetarian and vegan meals and we'll provide you with an extensive choice from a menu consisting of appetizing and freshly cooked dishes.
We even provide, given sufficient notice, packed lunches for bikers and hikers and light snacks for guests arriving late.
We are in an area of outstanding beauty with a wealth of activities and events catering for all ages - touring, cycling, walking, historic sites, museums and, of course, shopping. Alternately, just relax and watch the world go by!

Bedrooms
All our rooms are en-suite with central heating, colour TV, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities and bottled water. We use mattresses which are of the highest standard to ensure a good night's rest. Rooms are individually furnished to a high standard with great attention to detail to ensure your maximum comfort. In addition, all rooms have a clock radio, hair dryer and colour TV.
A selection of quality toiletries is available for guests' use as well as fluffy towels. We also have a small portable fridge available if needed.
All rooms have a well stocked hospitality tray with a selection of teas and herbal teas, coffee, hot chocolate in winter, and homemade biscuits.
Our guest information folder includes information on bus and train timetables, local places of interest, recommended restaurants, suggested local walks and information on local activities and attractions to add to your enjoyment of the Peak District.
Our garden room has an extremely comfortable king size bed with a hand crafted wooden head board and side tables. It also has direct access to the garden with a small private patio with a table and chairs.
Our other double room is a supremely comfortable, bright and sunny room with a feel of the beach about it. Once again, it is furnished with home made soft furnishings for that individual feeling.
Our family/twin room is furnished to invoke a country feeling with hand made soft furnishings. This room is normally used for singles or families as it has two single beds, with additional room for extra beds for children. It can, however, also be converted into a room with a super king size bed for a couple wanting a really huge bed!
