About Us

Marina and Tony Greenaway offer a warm welcome to their home in the delightful village of Curry Rivel located in Somerset in the heart of the West Country. You will be assured of a warm welcome and high quality bed and breakfast with full en-suite facilities.

Two miles west of Langport and lying south of the river Parrett, Curry Rivel is a quiet village located on the A378 and equidistant to Yeovil, Taunton, Glastonbury and Bridgwater. It is just 15 minutes drive from Junction 25 of the M5 motorway and 20 minutes from the A303 at Podimore. Mainline railway stations at Taunton and Yeovil are just 25 minutes drive away.

The house is in a quiet cul de sac on the edge of the village and there are open fields and lanes within a minutes walk. As well as the tastefully decorated bedrooms and en suites, guests will have use of the television lounge, a quiet sun lounge, outdoor hot tub and sun deck.

There are two double bedded rooms available, (one en suite and one dedicated bathroom) and a twin bedded room with en suite.

There are several interesting pubs and restaurants in the area offering a range of drinks, lunches and evening meals.

The area is an excellent location for many activities such as walking, cycling and fishing but also ideal if you just want to relax and do nothing at all.

Activities/Cycling & Walking

There is a wide variety of activities available to people in the area.

Cycling is one of the best ways to see the area in all its glory. The South Somerset Cycle Route follows the quietest, prettiest lanes for a 80 mile circular tour and links with the Wiltshire and Dorset routes and the Sustrans national network. It can be done in stages or adapted using suggested diversions into nearby towns. You will discover quiet, secluded villages with their individual houses, thatched roofs and beautiful cottage gardens.

We have information on many other shorter routes across the area. Bike hire can be arranged for an additional fee.

Places to visit

The area is rural and is in the heart of the Somerset Wetlands. The historic market town of Langport is just one mile away and gives ready access to the River Parrett trail. The unique geography of the area makes it a popular destination for wildlife and birds. We can advise you on activities such as riding, golf, squash, tennis and other sports or leisure activities as well as information on local theatres and clubs.

To the north lies a bold ridge of hills that rise steeply from West Sedgemoor and command an extensive view of the flat country between the Mendip and Quantock Hills.
The parish church of St Andrew's, built of local blue lias stone with hamstone facings, dates from the 15th Century.

The area is well placed for access to Exmoor, the Quantocks, the Mendips and Blackdown Hills. We are just 1 hours drive from Historic Stone Henge. We are just 45 minutes away from the World Heritage Lyme Regis and Charmouth coastline famous among fossil hunters.

Curry Rivel is conveniently situated to the many varied attractions in Somerset including Cheddar Gorge, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Haynes Motor Museum, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park and Glastonbury Tor and Abbey. We are close to National Trust properties at Montacute, Tintinhull Gardens and Forde Abbey.

The great caves of Wookey Hole have been famous since Roman times. Carved out by the mysterious river Axe, the caverns penetrate deep into the beautiful Mendip Hill; some have yet to be explored.

These internationally famous Grade 1 listed gardens were the inspiration of Margery Fish who was the undisputed 'Leading Lady of Gardening' from the 1950's until her death in 1969.

Glastonbury Abbey (10 Miles)*
The Abbey is set in 36 acres of beautifully peaceful parkland in the centre of the ancient market town of Glastonbury. It is traditionally the first Christian Sanctuary in Great Britain.

How to Find Us

Located midway between the Somerset and Dorset coastlines and only a little over 100 miles from London, South Somerset is easy to reach from all directions. Curry Rivel is equidistant between Taunton, Yeovil, Bridgwater and Glastonbury and situated on the A378 two miles west of Langport.

Edenhurst By Road:

From M5 exit at J25
Take the exit signposted A358 (towards Ilminster)
After 2 miles at the top of a hill just before the traffic lights, take the slip road on the left signposted A378 to Langport.
Stay on this road for approx. 7 miles (going past 2 small villages - Wrantage and Fivehead)
At Curry Rivel; go through the village until you spot the 40 mph speed limit signs
Turn left into Currywoods Way. Turn second left into Dyers Road
Turn first left into Dyers Close
Edenhurst is at the bottom of the cul de sac
