Places to Visit

Exeter Cathedral
Exeter Cathedral in its various forms has a long rich history. It is the jewel of Exeter city and its history is integral to the history of Exeter in general.

Walking around Cathedral Close we get in touch with the past in which the Exeter cathedral was a definite centre of peoples' lives. Today it is a place in the city where people have lunch and lie in the sun, have craft markets, and generally meet.

The Quay
The Exeter Quayside is an excellent place to relax and stroll around. You can visit the Customs House dating back to 1681 which is one of the earliest brick buildings in Exeter. The cannons outside the Customs House have never been fired. There are other old buildings and warehouses dating back to Charles II. Around the quay area you will also come across the antique, gift and craft shop. There are pubs, cafés and food outlets nearby for refreshments.

Dartmoor
Dartmoor is a wonderful place for visitors to go to from Exeter. It has been a National Park since 1951 and is approximately 368 square miles. There are beautiful views and rugged mountains, fascinating animals like the famous Dartmoor Ponies and sheep along the roadside.
