Dragonwyke is a delightful Grade II listed cottage dating back in part to the 14th century, situated in the heart of the picturesque downland village of Blewbury. It has been tastefully and sympathetically extended in recent years to include very private, comfortable accommodation overlooking a lovely garden of trees and shrubs which springs to life during the summer months and, being in a conservation area of natural beauty, is an ideal all year round retreat for week-end visitors and business commuters alike.
The bed and breakfast accommodation comprises a luxurious private double room with large en-suite bathroom. The bedroom overlooks the peaceful garden and is accessed by its own staircase and landing. Facilities include colour television with freeview digibox, full central heating, tea and coffee-making facilities. We have off street parking and you are afforded a choice of full English breakfast including fresh free-range eggs and locally grown produce, which is served in the dining hall with extensive oak framed windows providing views over the cottage's pretty terraced gardens.
The accommodation that we are able to offer is flexible and by arrangement a self- contained suite of rooms can be booked to include a large sitting room with sofa bed which will sleep 1 additional guest or 2 children.
Here in our attractive garden room guests can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the garden or take tea on the terrace outside when the weather is fine.
Blewbury is an outstanding country village nestling at the foot of the famous Ridgeway, well known to ramblers and nature lovers. It is popular for its location close to the Berkshire downs and beauty spots of Child Beale Park and the National Trust's Basildon Park. Within easy walking distance are two Inns, which serve good food and there are a variety of other excellent restaurants close by. Highlights of the year include the Open Gardens at the end of June and the Blewbury Players' Summer Production at Orchard Dene Open Air Theatre. The market town of Wallingford is some 10 minutes drive and further north lies Abingdon (12miles) and the University City of Oxford (20 miles). Other places easily accessible include Henley, Blenheim Palace at Woodstock, Frilford Heath Golf Course and Goring Golf Course. The White Horse Leisure Centre in Abingdon has swimming, tennis, squash, a gym and other sports facilities and Didcot Wave has swimming, gym and sunbed facilities.
