| The Dragon is an historic hotel, parts of it dating back to the mid 1600's, when it was a Coaching Inn. We pride ourselves on our warm welcoming atmosphere, and on our kitchen, which Sue supervises personally, where fresh fish, local steaks, Welsh lamb and a wide range of fresh local produce are prepared to the highest standards. Our extensive menus include vegetarian dishes. Mark (a Welcome Host scheme award winner) will be your host in the lounge bar where you can sample either the local real ale or a bottle from his ample wine cellar. Our standards are recognised by the Welsh Tourist Board and by the AA as 4 star. |

![]() | Despite the age of the building, we do offer en suite baths or showers in all our double and twin rooms, and showers in our small number of singles. Central heating, colour television, hair dryers and tea making facilities are standard. All rooms have their own telephone with outside direct dialling. |
| The indoor heated swimming pool is open to guests throughout the year and there is a lounge on the ground floor offering residents quiet relaxation away from our well appointed comfortable bar. We have a function room (20-100) available for private parties, meetings, conferences, weddings etc. | ![]() |

| A unique feature is the enclosed patio, created from the former coaching entrance way, leading out to a large private car park. The bar, lounge and some bedrooms contain beams and masonry reputated to have been taken from the castle after its destruction by Oliver Cromwell. Montgomery itself is a small town with established character, charm and a feeling of tranquillity. It was granted its town charter in 1227 but with a population of only 1,200 retains the peace and atmosphere of a large village, which is illustrated by the town museum run by the local civic society. Overlooked by the castle ruins, it has panoramic views of one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain. |

| Montgomery provides an ideal base for touring, fishing on the Wye and the Severn, and playing some of our local golf courses, where visitors are really welcomed. Situated on Offa's Dyke, it also provides an ideal centre for the serious walker, or the happy rambler. There are also opportunities for riding, shooting, tennis and even a rally school. Powis Castle and other sites of historic interest are nearby. In the town is the local museum and "Robbers Grave" in our beautiful church. A look at the Herbert family tomb is a must. We hope you will visit us soon and look forward to welcoming you to the Dragon. |
