It's the perfect place to browse the morning paper or maybe, lose yourself in a good book. Our 'honesty' bar is stocked with a selection of drinks enabling you to enjoy a chilled glass of wine on the terrace or possibly a nightcap before you retire to your room. ![]() Breakfast is served in the dining room, light, bright and airy it is obviously a credit to the architect that the sun pours into the room in the morning naturally lifting your spirits at the start of the day! |

| Out and About Downderry house has lovely gardens, including a croquet lawn, which you are welcome to relax in. However, Devon is a glorious county and is well worth exploring. Budleigh Salterton is ideally located on the stunning Jurassic coast and is a gateway to the Southwest Coast Path with it's magnificent views. It is a charming unspoilt town with quality shops, fine art galleries and delightful tea rooms - we are sure it will earn a special place in your heart! ![]() Budleigh Salterton is at the mouth of the River Otter which is a sanctuary for rare birds and wildlife. Our advice is to take the river path to Otterton where you can enjoy a morning coffee or delicious lunch at 'Otterton Mill' with its craft centre and bespoke shops selling Devon produce, arts and crafts. For those who enjoy sporting activities, we have two fine golf courses near by. East Devon Golf Course is two minutes away and Woodbury Park championship course is just a short drive away. Horse riding, fishing or shooting are also nearby along with croquet and archery. ![]() The historic cathedral city of Exeter is a short drive away, as is the fine regency town of Sidmouth and the miles of sandy beaches at Exmouth are just round the corner. A special favourite of ours is the little town of Topsham, steeped in history and full of shops to browse in, along with an RSPB reserve on the banks of the River Exe. Devon has many fine National Trust houses and gardens along with many miles of National Trust coastline all guaranteed to make an excellent 'day out' if visited and, of course, has the rugged splendour of Dartmoor National Park to explore. |
