Situated 90 minutes drive from London or 45 minutes from Stansted airport. Donaghmore is in easy access of the following places of interest:-
  • University of Cambridge (40 minutes)
  • Medieval "Wool" town of Lavenham (40 minutes)
  • Historic Cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds (20 minutes)
  • Newmarket - home to the National Stud, Horse Racing Museum and the world famous Tattersalls. (20 minutes)
  • Long Melford with Tudor re-enactments and many antique shops along England's longest village street.
  • Sudbury - birthplace of the painter Thomas Gainsborough and his house open as a museum (40 minutes)
  • Ely with its magnificent cathedral rising from the fens. (35 minutes)
  • Duxford - Imperial War Museum - historic British, American and German aircraft - WW2 Military vehicles - the original Concorde
    as well as Europe's largest single span hangar housing dozens of historic aircraft. (30 minutes)
  • There are three excellent golf courses and leisure centres all within a 20 minutes drive.
Guests will find guides and leaflets in their rooms to these and other places to visit.

How to find us

If approaching from Clare

Take the B1063 northwards towards Newmarket. Cross the A143 at Stradishall and the next village is Wickhambrook. At a cross roads where you will see a shop and petrol station on your left, take the right turn into Cemetery Road. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the cross roads. Donaghmore is 100 yards on the right set well back from the road. (Drive slowly or you will miss the entrance to the drive.

If approaching from Bury St. Edmunds

Take the A143 south westwards towards Haverhill. Turn right at Stradishall onto the B1063. The first village is Wickhambrook. (as above to Donaghmore)

If approaching from Haverhill

Take the A143 north eastwards towards Bury St. Edmunds. Where the A143 crosses the B1063 at Stradishall, turn left. The first village is Wickhambrook. (as above to donaghmore)

If approaching from Newmarket

Take the B1063 southwards. In Wickhambrook, turn left at Thorns Corner (opposite the shop and petrol station) into Cemetery road. At the bottom of the hill turn left at the cross roads. Donaghmore is 100 yards on the right, set well back from the road.

Next door is a family run free house "The Greyhound" who will provide meals by prior arrangement until they are fully established.
