A Place to relax and feel the world fall into place...

Welcome to our lovely Victorian Country House hotel, which dates from 1860 and is set in the heart of the beautiful hills of Southern Snowdonia.

The hotel's position offers the visitor peace and quiet, even in the high season. From the hotel, we have panoramic views over the surrounding pastures to the hills on either side of the valley. In the distance to the east are the Arran Mountains and down the valley in the other direction , we look towards the Mawddach Estuary with Cadair Idris rising on the south side.

Essentially, the hotel offers old fashioned service in traditional surroundings. It is a quiet hotel to which guests return, confident that they will find peace and relaxation. We do not take children under 12 years old.

Sitting in 5 acres of its own, well established gardens, Dolserau Hall is half a mile from the nearest road (the lane that leads to our front drive is actually over a mile long). Guests are always impressed by the splendid isolation of this grand old house.

The Hotel

The drive leads past the front of the house to a large car park. The main entrance to the house, through the arched portico, takes the visitor into a large galleried hall.

From the hallway, a grand staircase leads to the first and second floor bedrooms. There is also a lift to the second floor. The spacious lounges lead off the hall and the 'Winter Garden' dining room extends beyond.

The Bedrooms

There are fifteen bedrooms in the main house and a further five very lovely bedrooms in the lodge, with views over the walled garden.

The rooms are priced mostly according to size, since almost every room has a spectacular view. There are two categories: Superior and Standard Classic. Each room is furnished to the same level of quality and comfort with white Egyptian cotton linen, luxury towels and Molton Brown toiletries. Fresh milk is provided in a small fridge on each floor.

All rooms have full ensuite bathroom with either a bath and separate shower or a shower over the bath.

Radiator temperature is controlled from within each bedroom for the individual comfort of guests.

Dining

We like to make dinner each evening a special occasion. Your order will be taken by the Head Waitress, while you enjoy a drink in the lounge. Our Head Chef, whose reputation and skill in his own Michelin Star Restaurant, has earned us an AA Rosette in each of the last three years, will be putting the final touches to your dinner while his team will be opening your chosen bottle of wine, lighting the candles and warming the bread.

We don't have a formal dress code for dinner, although we do like guests to treat it as a special occasion and we would prefer guests not to wear jeans, T shirts or trainers.

We know that good food plays an important part in any holiday. 70% of our guests each year have stayed before and an important factor influencing their return is our cuisine.

The dinner menu changes daily and includes delicious Welsh Lamb and Black beef from our local butchers and farmers, locally grown vegetables and game in season along with fish from a private trawler fleet out of Anglesey. Main course options include a vegetarian dish and special dietary requirements are easily accommodated.

Desserts, all made in our kitchen, include traditional British puddings as well as a number of more decadent creations!

Our wines are chosen selectively from the more notable regions of the world including St Emilion in France, Franshoek in South Africa, Rioja in Spain and Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
