Twenty minutes drive over the mountains behind Creag-Ard House is the lovely Loch Katrine with its magnificent vintage steamer, the "Sir Walter Scott", on which one may enjoy a leisurely cruise, and enjoy the unique views only seen from this serene Loch.

Creag-Ard House itselfhas been refurbished to its former Victorian glory - Bedrooms 1&2 enjoy the most stunning views over the loch and towards Ben Lomond but all the bedrooms are attractively furnished and all have full en-suite bathrooms. (All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and hot and cold water).

A beautiful large breakfast room/lounge is available for guests to relax in (sorry there is no television reception because of the mountains).

A full traditional Scottish breakfast that is sure to please all appetites is offered to guests. Choose from porridge or cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and home baking and follow it with a cooked breakfast of Scottish fare, (traditional full cooked breakfast) smoked haddock fresh from the north, or our guests favourite - eggs served with the best Scottish smoked salmon a real taste of luxury.

A good choice of vegetarian and vegan food is also offered. Feel free to ask for anything different and we will do out best to provide it! Although we do not provide an evening meal there are many exellent places to eat in this area and we will be happy to recommend one to you.

The Trossachs - The Ideal Holiday

The Trossachs is one of the most beautiful areas in Scotland and offers the visitor every type of holiday - total relaxation in the most stunning scenery and yet every sporting activity you could want as well as plenty of historical and cultural sites to visit. We will be happy to fill you in on what there is to do in the area when you arrive at Creag-Ard House here are a few suggestions

Walking: - Being in the middle of the famous Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Aberfoyle offers so many wonderful walks it is difficult to know which one to choose! From gentle strolls to full-day expeditions, walkers will love the beauty of the scenery.

Mountains: - If scaling heights is your hobby you will find many exciting mountains to conquer from here. We will happily show you the routes to find on some of Scotland's most beautiful mountains - and show you photographs to prove that we too have done them!

Cycling: - You are welcome to bring your own bikes or you can hire them in the village to explore some fantastic cycle routes. We are now on the map of the new Sustrans National Cycle Route and the area boasts some of the best cycle ways, which are both challenging and yet will delight you with the wonderful scenery.

Fishing: -Creag-Ard House enjoys its own private wild trout fishing on Loch Ard - guests are invited to fish free of charge from our own bank, but greater access may be gained from our boat which may be hired for a nominal fee.Superb Salmon and sea trout fishing may be enjoyed on the local rivers Forth and Teith (early and late season recommended when there is plenty of water) tickets can be arranged with prior notice. The famous lake of Menteith is only five minutes drive away and boats may be hired on this beautiful lake (the only one in Scotland).

Golf: -Aberfoyle's Golf Club - superb 18 holes - welcomes visitors. The course has a beautiful setting above the village and will delight and frustrate you as you tackle the challenging holes.

Watersports: -Watersports of all kinds are offered in the area - sailing, canoeing and windsurfing can be arranged on Loch Ard. A little further away, Loch Lomond (20 minutes) offers noisier pursuit with motor boats, water-skiing and jet skiing.

Wildlife: -For a quieter pursuit, come to the Trossachs to look at the marvellous wildlife. Deer abound in the countryside (often close to our back garden), while buzzards and Ospreys - and if you are lucky - eagle soar overhead.
