| Relieve your stress! Visit Durness! There are two cottages of brick construction in a terraced row. The accommodation comprises of two bedrooms, one containing a double bed and the other, twin beds. Both rooms have built in wardrobes. Duvets and linen are all included in the hire charge. Towels can be provided on request. The lounge has an electric fire, a storage heater, colour TV and a small music centre. The kitchen has an electric cooker (four rings, grill and oven), a microwave oven, fridge freezer, electric kettle and a washing machine. Place settings for four persons are provided. The bathroom is small with wash hand basin, toilet and a shower. The shower is run from the hot-water system. There is an airing cupboard with ample drying space. At the rear of the cottages, there is a drying green with a clothes line shared with the other cottages - pegs are provided! Bookings are from: Saturday to Saturday Arrivals after 2pm Departures by 10am Telephones are not installed in either of the cottages; however, there are several public telephones within the village. Our number - 01971 511280 may be given as an emergency contact only. Most mobile telephones work in this area. Electricity charges are not included in the basic charge. A prepayment meter (£1 coins) has been installed for your convenience. The average cost seems to work out at about ten pounds per week (2008 prices). | What there is to see and do in and around Durness Around Faraid Head, many types of sea birds can be seen. Amongst these are Ravens, Rock Pipits, Artic Skuas, Kittiewakes, Fulmars, Peregrine Falcons, and many more. Puffins can also be seen at certain times of the year. | ![]() |
| Balnakeil Craft Village is at first glance, an unattractive place to visit, being an old RAF camp with military style buildings, but it is well worth a visit. Here craftspeople can be seen producing their wares and the hand made goods are available to purchase. The range of goods is quite large and an hour or so spent there will be well spent. | ![]() |
| If fishing is your sport there are many limestone lochs around Durness, where the fish are delicious, but a challenge to catch! Permits can be purchased locally. | ![]() |
| The Durness course had its moment of fame when the television golf commentator peter Allis toured Scotland's finest golf courses and included Durness in his itinerary and the BBC series. Clubs can be hired from the clubhouse. | ![]() |
| A visit to Cape Wrath Lighthouse is a must for a lot of visitors the ferry and mini buses run from May to the end of September. The ferry is 'passengers only' and the mini buses are the only vehicles on the Cape-side. The journey time by ferry, ten minutes and by the minibus to the lighthouse, about twenty minutes. | ![]() |
