Castle View Hotel Chepstow
Castle View Hotel, 16 Bridge Street, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, NP16 5EZ

"Castle View Hotel was built about 300 years ago as a private residence originally called Woodfield House. The first owner was the local factory manager. It is interesting to think that its stones may have come from Chepstow Castle, just across the road, which by that time had fallen into disuse. The solid walls and foundations of the original building are up to five feet thick, tapering to a mere three feet to carry the seasoned oak roof supports."

THE HOTEL

Castle View Hotel was built about 300 years ago as a private residence originally called Woodfield House. The first owner was the local factory manager.

It is interesting to think that its stones may have come from Chepstow Castle, just across the road, which by that time had fallen into disuse. The solid walls and foundations of the original building are up to five feet thick, tapering to a mere three feet to carry the seasoned oak roof supports. Two bedrooms and the dining room (originally a kitchen) were added about 150 years ago.

The small 18th century cottage next door was recently purchased, and integrated into the hotel to provide a cosy residents lounge and the "Cottage Suite".

OUR FOOD: RESTAURANT AND BAR

We concentrate on producing interesting British food using local produce and fresh vegetables. All dishes - soups, casseroles, sweets etc. - are "home made" and the vegetables delivered and prepared daily.

The area is known for pork, bacon, trout, game and perhaps especially, for fresh Wye Salmon. We are particularly fortunate to have contact with a number of first class suppliers.

The restaurant menu offers a wide choice of dishes, and is changed regularly to make the best use of seasonal produce. The bar menu lists snacks and light meals which are particularly popular at lunchtime.
We offer a selection of vegetarian dishes on the restaurant and bar menus.

The wine list carries a broad selection of stock in the medium and popular price ranges. The list comprises of wines from Europe, Australia and America. We have a number of malts and a good real ale.
