Carreg Plas is a 17th Century Manor House of historic interest Grade 2 Listed, near the tip of the Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales. There has been a dwelling place on the site ever since the 6th Century, in early medieval times it was linked with the Abbots of Bardsey and was owned by the Carreg family from 1396 to 1950. The present house was substantially rebuilt in 1611 and further extended in the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Set in 5 acres of wooded grounds, the house enjoys a very secluded and sheltered position, close to the celebrated Whistling Sands Beach and only 2 miles from the picturesque village of Aberdaron. The Llyn Peninsula is famous for its dramatic cliffs, sandy bays and peaceful countryside and is classified as an "area of outstanding natural beauty". The National Trust own much of the lovely coastline.

Some rare birds and plants are to be found locally and the Atlantic grey seal may be sighted off the coast. The area is rich in prehistoric sites of all kinds. Carreg is noteworthy for its unique deposits of red jasper, an extremely hard stone once described in The Times as "the finest stone in the world". |
Included in the local amenities are golf, horse riding, sea fishing, sailing and windsurfing, whilst the mountains of Snowdonia are within striking distance.
Carreg has six rooms of varying sizes - most having en-suite facilities, four of which are suitable for families. Children are welcome (cots and high chairs available) and there are special terms for under twelves. Pets may be accommodated by arrangement only. There are ample parking spaces. Terms cover bed and breakfast or dinner, bed and breakfast, on a weekly or daily basis.
The Guest House is unlicensed but guests may bring their own alcoholic drinks. Tea making facilities are provided in all rooms and incidental teas/coffees are always available. In the interest of health and safety, guests are requested not to smoke inside the house. |
