General Information

Broadway House is a family home and business with a warm and friendly environment. We provide high quality bed and breakfast. It was used for the import of cotton from America and elsewhere. Dutch architecture and port buildings of that period are now in residential use and still being seen on the waterfront today.

The house has a grade II* historical listing because of its gate, architecture and interior. There is a fine mahogony staircase with a large pallodion window (used for many a wedding photo!) In the hall are 16/17C spanish leather panels (probably from the Armada) installed from another property when the house was built. Most of the original features of the house are still visible. Most of the rooms are large with plaster cornices and the original shutters a feature of all the rooms still working.

The Georgian Tearoom restaurant has been established in the property for more than 15 years gaining many awards and a widespread reputation for quality and hospitality. The house was converted from bedsits to provide high quality bed & breakfast accommodation. The standard of accommodation, facilities and services offered are steadily improving as we prepare for three star status. Already popular with guests, many have already returned having enjoyed their previous stay.

Gerald is a keen gardener and has worked as a builder for many years designing, building and improving houses - often listed buildings. Heather trained and worked as a nurse but gave it up for her family. Later she turned her hand to cooking. Using her skills of hospitality and good taste! she has established the Georgian Tearooms as one of the best in the county. She enjoys patchwork quilting, is collector of fantastic dessert recipes and works with the Topsham Traders Association.

House is on the left beside the red phone box at the second zebra crossing - 2 miles from roundabout. Parking is available at the rear of the property - turn left at mini roundabout, then left into cobbled drive and take the left hand gate.

Directions to property:By Car: From the M5 junction 30, leave at J30. Follow signs for A379 to Dawlish. At first roundabout (2nd including J30) turn left down Topsham Road. By Rail: Change at Exeter St Davids. Take the Exmouth train to Topsham. From Topsham Railway Station, cross over the mainroad where the gates are and go 200 yds down the hill (Station Road). Go round the corner at the end of the road onto High Street. Our house is thefirst on your right with the iron gate and railings. Parking is available at the rear of the property - turn left at mini roundabout, then left into cobbled drive and take the left hand gate.

Other types of Accommodations: Family Room. Two Rooms, one leading into the other. One has twin beds and the other has a double bed with the en-suite shower and WC. £90.00 per room for adults, children are discounted according to their age if they share a room with parents.

In the restaurant main lunches are available from 12.00. The signature dish is the Traditional English Cream Tea which is usually served from 3pm. We use Twinnings Tea, our own homemade jam, Westcountry clotted cream and most importantly, homemade scones made from a Farmhouse recipe using only natural ingredients and when hot from the oven are amazing.

Accepted Payments Methods: Cash, Mastercard, Switch/Delta. VIsa. Consumption of alcohol is permitted with meals in the restaurant. Deposit Amount Required: 10% of value of booking (waived at our discretion).

Discounts available: For guests staying 6 nights or more there is a discount of 10%.

Minimum stay required. Minimum of 2 days during weekends(June - Sept only)
Check-in-time is 2.30 - 10pm and check out time is 10.30am
