| Broadview is a quality, friendly, no smoking Guest House offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Ambleside in the heart of the English Lake District National Park. Alan & Sue are happily extending their hospitality to both regular & new visitors in this their 11th season. The first paying guests were taken at Broadview around 1956 and although Broadview has remained more or less unchanged, it offers the modern facilities and little extras you would expect to make your stay in the Lake District a special one. The house is fully centrally heated and although we do have the occassional log fire in winter, this is for effect rather than necessity. Ambleside is in central South Lakes at the head of England largest natural Lake, Windermere. The area has always been a favourite haunt of artists of all disciplines. Wordsworth, Coleridge and Ruskin led this illustrious list whilst Beatrix Potter loved the area so much, it apparently inspired her to write her famous Peter Rabbit stories. She even left a number of properties to the National Trust to be preserved. ![]() |
| Accommodation Broadview has six good quality guest rooms set out on the first & second floors. Unlike most establishments, our rooms are individually named not numbered. 1st Floor WINDERMERE A warm and quiet bedroom at the back of the house containing a kingsize 4 poster bed. The room is en-suite with shower, toilet and basin. The room is ideal for that special romantic break or just a treat. It's cool in summer and lovely and warm in the winter as it sits over our AGA, but the big sash windows allow plenty of ventilation on warmer days. The room also features a widescreen TV, video and DVD so don't forget to pack your CDs etc. RYDAL This comfortable double at the front has its own separate private bathroom just across the hall. The bedroom has a basin but the bathroom has a bath, toilet & basin, we even provide the bubble bath! You have a key to the bathroom so it is for your exclusive use only. A bathrobe is supplied so there is no need to bring one. 2nd Floor ULLSWATER A large room at the front of the house with a double and single bed, ideal as a double, twin or a room for 3 people. There is a shower, toilet & basin en-suite. Some of the views on this site were taken from this lovely room. TROUTBECK A comfortable quiet double room at the back of the house. This has en-suite shower, toilet & basin. The room also has a Video and DVD player. CONISTON A warm cosy double room at the back of the house which shares the adjacent excellent shower room that consists of a shower, toilet & basin, with Grasmere. There is a basin in this room. GRASMERE A spacious front facing twin bedded room which shares the adjacent superb shower room facilities with Coniston. There is a basin within the room. Grasmere has the same magnificent views as Ullswater.
Rooms are serviced daily and contain well-stocked hospitality tea and coffee trays with hot chocolate and biscuits, colour TV, alarm clock radios and hairdryers. Each room has a mini-cooler which is ideal for chilling a bottle of wine, beer or soft drinks. Of course we always provide the essential glasses and corkscrew! All rooms have a bathrobe per person to use and a good supply of fluffy bath sheets and bath towels. Rooms now have DVD players and Windermere and Troutbeck have Video recorders, so don't forget to pack your CDs and DVDs. As well as this, each room has the little extras to ensure that your stay at Broadview is a comfortable one. Drying facilities are available for wet clothes and boots if the weather has been unkind. If you are planning on bringing bicycles, you are welcome to store them in the yard at the back of the house - apart from them being guarded by Dobby, our dog, the yard is not secure. We advise you bring locks for your own security. An iron and ironing board can also be supplied on request.
