Brick House has a long and interesting history
The earliest Church records show that there has been a house on the site since 1450.
It was then called Whitehall Farm.
Parts of the original farmhouse still show but the main Georgian facade was built around 1795.
The house was then owned by William Phillips, who was a member of Parliament and a prominent land owner.
He also built the Whiston Mansion in the next village.
Whilst buidling Whitson Court, William Phillips, built the Brick House ready for his son's return to Britain from the American Colonies. However the son (also named William) never returned.
The ship carrying him home was wrecked in a storm before reaching Britain and William was drowned.

Brick House remained in the Phillips family until 1901, when it was sold to Sir William James Thomas, a coalmine owner from Cardiff and it became part of his vast estate.
The present owners Mr and Mrs Charles Park first became tenants of the farm in 1947 and eventually purchased the property, in 1972, from the executors of Sir William James Thomas.

Our accommodation is spacious
Four double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, two single bedrooms, and even a 'family room' that can sleep up to five people.
All are tastefully furnished with full central heating throughout.

Dining
As a guest at Brick House you may enjoy a substantial breakfast:
Fruit juice, followed by your choice of cereal and a full cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, free-range eggs and grilled tomatoes.
If still hungry, there is toast with home-made marmalade or honey and tea or coffee.
Guests can pre-book an evening meal as our menu ranges from a quick snack to a full three-course dinner, including vegetables from the garden, and a selection of delicious home-made desserts.
To accompany the meal, guests may have a house wine or select one of the many fine wines from our cellar.

How To Find Us
You will find Brick House situated on the edge of the peaceful village of Redwick, yet conveniently only three miles from junction 23a of the M4 motorway. Bristol, Newport And Cardiff are all within an easy drive.
The many interesting sites in the vicinity include Caldicot Castle, eight miles east of Brick House and famous for its Medieval Banquets, held on most summer evenings.
The picturesque Wye Valley and Tintern Abbey are less than half an hour's drive away and from there you may wish to make a visit to the old town of Monmouth - birthplace of the first Prince of Wales, and Henry Rolls of Rolls Royce.
