| Ben Craig Guest House is listed with the AA and the Scottish Tourist Board and our high ratings are reflected throughout this Victorian property, with its original period furniture and soft furnishings. Scotland is known the world over for its hospitality and at our family run residence this welcoming atmosphere is echoed throughout. We are conveniently located in the Southside of Edinburgh within reasonable walking distance of the historic Old Town, the Museum of Scotland, the Scottish Parliament Buildings, numerous galleries and many more places of interest. The area is well served by a bus service and, with secure parking at both the front and rear of the house, you can leave your car and enjoy a stress free day in the city, sightseeing or shopping, and in the evening perhaps take in a show. During the world famous Edinburgh International Festival held in August and September many of the venues are virtually our doorstep. |
Rooms
Ben Craig Guest House has a range of room types, from single and double or twin rooms, to triple and family rooms.All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished in a complimentary fashion to a very high standard. En-suite facilities in all rooms add to the visitor's comfort and enjoyment, as does the full central heating. Colour TV is a fixture within each room though with so much to see and do in Scotland's Capital, "couch potatoes" are rarely seen. A radio/alarm, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities are all there for our guests' further convenience. Cots and additional beds are available for small family groups. NB. | Parking & transportation: Free secure parking spaces at the front and rear of Ben Craig are a real bonus in a major city, while there is also additional free on-street parking on the adjoining side street. Concierge services: A laundry service is available if required, as is the use of an ironing board and of course, iron. Communication: For those who can't fully relax when away from home, internet access is available so that emails can be checked and the world won't end while you enjoy your stay in Edinburgh.Access to our fax machine and the use of a payphone is available for your added convenience. (A minimal fee may apply to some of the above) Breakfast: The most important meal of the day! A choice of fruit juices, fruit segments, cereal, porridge followed by eggs any way you want them (fried, scrambled, poached or boiled). A variety of cheeses, breads and muffins are there to set you up for the day. Tea or Coffee, and of course toast is served up with pleasure. A special menu would be provided on request for your dietary requirements. Relax: Whether you want to relax or enjoy breakfast in our conservatory, Ben Craig has ample space for you, including our patio and rear garden. From South M6/A74 From the A74 take the A702 through Biggar, which will bring you on to the A720 City Bypass. Join the Bypass where signposted "Edinburgh South & East". Leave the Bypass at the first junction marked "Straiton Junction", join the A701 and follow the signs for City Centre. After 2.5 miles (4 km) bear left onto Craigmillar Park. Quarter a mile further on you will see Ben Craig House on the right. From South M1 Take the A68 from Scotch Corner, through Jedburgh and Dalkeith. After Dalkeith the road will merge with the A7 where you follow the City Centre signs. After 2.5 miles (4 km) bear left onto Craigmillar Park. Quarter a mile further on you will see Ben Craig House on the right. Alternatively Take the A1 round the coastal route and join the A720 City Bypass as you approach the city. Leave the Bypass at the first junction (Sheriffhall Roundabout) and join the A7 signposted Edinburgh where it merges with the A68. Then as above. From Glasgow The M8 Motorway now terminates at a roundabout known as the "Edinburgh Interchange". On the roundabout take the third exit signposted "Edinburgh South & East" and join the A720 City Bypass. Continue on the bypass until Straiton junction, leave the bypass and join the A701 as for M6 traffic. From Edinburgh Airport Follow the A8 trunk road to the "Edinburgh Interchange". Follow signs for A720 Berwick and South then continue as above (from Glasgow). By Rail Exit from Waverley Station by road entrance turning right up on to Princes Street. Cross over to the shops side for buses numbered 3, 31, and 69 or 80 travelling east. Bus will immediately turn right on to North Bridge. Travel along the main route until shops finish and Hotels/Guest Houses commence. Exit on Craigmillar Park outside the Ben Craig House. Bus journeys should take around 10 minutes. |
