| Our rooms The Bayview has twelve attractive spacious non-smoking bedrooms. Eight rooms are en-suite and four have private facilities. All rooms have colour television, clock radios and courtesy trays.
Eight rooms enjoy panoramic views over Rothesay Bay and our other four rooms look out onto the garden, which has the occasional visit from the Roe deer, which roam freely on our island. All our rooms have been designed with our guests' comfort in mind. Four of our rooms have super king sized double beds (six foot wide) or for that special occasion (or just because you can) why not book our four- poster room at no extra charge. There also is no extra charge for single rooms or sea-views! |
| History Originally built in 1896 the Bayview was joined to the house next door in 1970 to become the Bayview Hotel. Bought in 1995 by Andrew and Irene McGregor, the Bayview has been lovingly upgraded and restored over the past Eleven Years. We were closed over the winter months and have just finished the refurbishment of our six, second floor rooms with a more modern appeal, and look forward to welcoming old friends back again and meeting new friends who have yet to discover us. We are hands on proprietors and are always available for our guests' requirements. We pride ourselves on being a friendly hotel and hope you enjoy your stay in our home. |

| Getting to Bute and finding the Bayview Hotel Bute is one of the easiest Scottish islands to reach from mainland UK. There is a direct link by rail from Glasgow Central station to the Wemyss (pron. "weems") Bay ferry terminal from where the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry takes approximately 35mins to make the crossing to Rothesay. A more scenic Route If you are travelling by car or bike there is a more circuitous and spectacular route by driving up past Loch Lomond and through the mountains of Argyll. This brings you to the village of Colintraive and a small ferry crossing from the Kyles of Bute to Rhubodach on the north of the island. Drive south to Rothesay from here and locate us on the seafront. |
