Not only does it provide guests with a spectacular outlook over the Exe estuary and the beautiful coastline stretching out towards Torbay, but it is also positioned conveniently close to the town centre with its wide variety of shops and restaurants.

The buildings which comprise the Ashton Court Hotel were built in the early 1820's at the time Exmouth was fast becoming a fashionable resort for the rich and famous of the day. Near neighbours have included Lady Nelson, Lady Byron and Francis Danby R.A., a local well known landscape artist.

Today, we have a total of 45 bedrooms, the majority of which enjoy a southerly aspect and magnificent views over the Esplanade, the Exe estuary, and the distant rolling hills of the Devon countryside. Whatever the season, an enchanting and ever changing scene that greets us a fresh each morning.

The hotel is centrally heated throughout and each bedroom has en suite facilities and is provided with colour television and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all main floors.

Our spacious lounge is also south facing with views that take on a different emphasis each morning, noon and night, but which never fail to capture the imagination. It offers a peaceful setting and a perfect place to relax following a hectic day.

The lounge bar is both cosy and friendly and an ideal place in which to enjoy a drink with friends, or perhaps indeed to make new friends.

We also have a reading room, a quiet retreat for anyone wishing to be alone with a good book, a newspaper, a crossword, or just their thoughts. It is also a designated no smoking area.

The hotel is proud to be able to offer guests not one, but two individual gardens for their enjoyment. At the rear of the hotel is a quiet and shady garden which, during the summer months, provides us with the opportunity of an open air extension to the bar...who says you cannot have the best of both worlds?

At the front of the hotel in addition to parking facilities, our private garden can be likened to a haven enclosed by Georgian railings, a tranquil spot in which to relax and watch the fishing boats and pleasure craft passing back and forth along the shoreline.

All pleasures of a long, level sea front, with its two mile stretch of fine sandy beaches, are virtually on our doorstep. A variety of attractions including swimming pool, boating pool, model railway, putting green and children's playground, are but a short distance away.

Exmouth as a town has much to offer. For the actively minded, a selection of sports available locally are listed below.Cricket, horse riding, swimming, golf, tennis, bowls, angling, boating.

For others, less strenuous pursuits might include enjoying a stroll along our two miles of glorious sands, a wander around the towns renowned floral gardens, or a ramble over the extensive heathlands of Woodbury Common, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Many local attractions and museums are also waiting to be explored, as of course is the wonderful Devon countryside, including the beautiful Exe estuary. This home to thousands of wading birds is of national significance and attracts a great many bird watchers, particularly during the winter months.
