Rachel and Martin welcome you to a relaxing stay in their charming Victorian Hotel.
The Angus Hotel, built in 1888, is in the Stanwix part of the city where the Romans had a command headquarters for1,000 cavalry and so we literally have our foundations on Hadrian's Wall.
Carlisle is a unique city and boasts a renowned history with so much to see and do from its 11th century castle to its beautiful sandstone cathedral. We are conveniently located for exploring Hadrian's Wall, the English Lake District, Eden Valley, and the Scottish Borders. There is also the 187 mile Reivers Cycle Route and for those who enjoy golf, we can arrange a package to suit.
Perhaps you may like to take a local shopping trip to the Victorian Market Hall or the Lanes shopping centre. As fortheatre goers there may be a show you want to see at The Sands Centre.
Whatever you want to do, there will always be plenty to enjoy. |

Almonds Restaurant
The fully licensed Almond Restaurant is open to guests of the hotel and to non residents. We offer dishes prepared fresh from our a la carte menu. Vegetarian dishes are available and special diets can be catered for.

Our meeting room is available for hire and can seat up to 25. Conference equipment can be made available along with refreshments. Business lunches are ideal in the surroundings of the Almonds restaurant or in the privacy of the Victorian Room. |
Weddings & Dinner Parties
Our Victorian Room and Lounge, with its real fire, is also available for dinner and small wedding parties of up to 25 people in comfortable and stylish surroundings. |

Directions
By Car: The Angus is best approached from the North. Take exit 44 from the M6 Motorway. Approaching Carlisle City along the A7 Scotland Road, we are on the left hand side. Turn left immediately after the hotel for free parking. A permit can be obtained from the Hotel reception.
By Rail: A 5 minute taxi ride will get you to the hotel from Carlisle's Citadel Station which has regular services via the beautiful and historic Settle to Carlisle line, London, Euston, Glasgow, and Newcastle upon Tyne. |
