We remain open all year round and we aim to provide all our guests with a memorable and enjoyable stay whether it be for one night or a fortnight.

Many of our guests have stayed many times before- indeed some have been coming back annually for 25 years or more. All come for a variety of reasons but will all agree that Alvey House offers great value for money

Golf

By far the most popular reason for staying at Alvey House is that it is nothing short of a golfer's paradise. Imagine a 50 yard stroll to the first tee of one of the most picturesque golf courses in Scotland. Having played as much golf as you can handle, you return to a sumptuous four course meal and a roaring log fire to reflect on the days play with friends.

Newtonmore Golf Course, established in 1893 is set in the picturesque Spey Valley in the heart of the Highlands. The backdrop to the course offers spectacular views of the Cairngorm, Grampian and Monolaith Mountains giving an all round panorama. The course is a protected botanical and wild life reserve, home to rare birds and a unique floral display of wild orchids.

Newtonmore is very popular with groups and societies that travel from all over the UK to enjoy its flat fairways and quality green keeping. The course appeals to older golfers as it is less physicallydemanding than most Scottish courses.Although predominantly flat, clever course design, strategic tree placement and hazardous rough can all create a test for the keenest of golfers. The splendidly maintained fairways and greens will succumb to the accurate and steady player where length is not often a pre-requisite.

The Club house is warm and friendly and is the social centre of Newtonmore Village. It offers excellent food/lunchtime snacks and a well stocked bar with pool table and TV. There is always entertainment in the evenings with live bands and traditional music.

For all that Newtonmore Golf Club has to offer, the green fees are confusingly cheap, for example, a week unlimited ticket would cost you the same as a round at many courses. Most of our regular guests are members due to membership costing less than £100.

At Alvey House we are geared up for golf groups and offer excellent value discount packages. The hotel has a golf store and drying room for your equipment.

Other Courses - From Alvey House there is an array of quality courses to visit including: Kingussie, Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Nairn.

Skiing

Alvey House is ideally placed to sample the best of Scottish skiing. The skiing is predominately in the extensive Cairngorm ski area due to easy access, however, other areas such as Nevis Range, The Lecht and Glenshee are all within easy traveling distance.

Why Ski Scotland ?
For those who have yet to try it, given good conditions, Scottish resorts can offer the same as an Alpine resort with extensive lifts, pistes, mountain restaurants and quality instruction.

How many of us spend the first few days of our annual ski holiday getting the feel of the skis again and floundering around? Why not spend a weekend in Scotland thus preparing you for the slopes?

If you are thinking about getting away this winter, you can rest assured that a warm welcome awaits you.
Please ring for details on our group discounts and special ski deals.
