Honiton is located in Devon near the River Otter. The town became a prominent lace making center, a craft which was introduced to the local area by Flemish immigrants during the Elizabethan era. Throughout the 17th Century, lace was widely produced in the Honiton area. During the 19th Century Queen Victoria even insisted upon her wedding dress being made of Honiton lace. Today the town still celebrates its lace making heritage with a Lace Walk and museum. Visitors will also find there are plenty of other shops and sights to see while enjoying a visit in Honiton. In addition, there are numerous accommodation options in Honiton and the surrounding area.

The town of Honiton, Devon is located near the River Otter and it is seventeen miles to the northeast of Exeter. The town of Honiton covers an area of about three kilometres squared. Further developments are limited within the town as it borders with East Devon that is classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The southern part of the town is bordered with the Blackdown Hills.

The town of Honiton has a strong educational network as it has two primary schools that are known as Littletoun and Honiton. Both of the primary schools attend the same secondary school within the town of Honiton that is known as Honiton Community College and this school also includes a sixth form.

There are a vast number of facilities within the town of Honiton, which include a swimming pool, a sports centre, a retail park that includes Argos, Homebase, Tesco and Marks and Spencers. During 2006 Simply Foods opened in the centre of the town. There are a vast number of other retailers in the town and these include jewellers, clothing shops, cycle shops, butchers, deli, bookshops and also a fishmonger.

Every Tuesday and Saturday there is an outdoor market held in the town. The market is held on the High Street. The town of Honiton is also very popular with people that are trying to hunt down antiques and the town is home to over twenty antique shops. There is a local football team within the town and this team is known as Honiton Town Football Club. The local football team also has a very active youth section.
