The English market town of Holt is located within the county of Norfolk. The town is located about twenty three miles north of Norwich, about ten miles from the west of Cromer and also thirty five miles to the east of King's Lynn. The town is situated on the A148 route that runs from Cromer Road to King's Lynn.

The nearest railway station for the town is at Sheringham. This town has a very strong rail network via the Bittern Line to Norwich. Holt also has a station that is part of the preserved railway of North Norfolk. The closest airport is the international airport of Norwich. The town of Holt has a population of about three thousand five hundred and fifty. Holt is governed by the district council of North Norfolk.

Holt is home to Gresham's School and this is a long established public school that was founded during 1555 by Sir John Gresham. This school was originally for boys to attend however during 1971 it became a co-educational school. The primary school in the town is known as Holt Community and this primary school is open to pupils aged between five and eleven years of age.

The railway station in Holt was opened during 1887 and Midland and Northern Railway served it. A lot of the network was closed in 1959 however a small section between the railway station at Melton Constable which served Holt to Sheringham managed to escape closure for a few years but that was also eventually closed in 1964.
