Gairloch is a small village that is located on the shores of the Gair Loch, hence the name of the village. The village is located on the northwestern coast of Scotland. The village of Gairloch is very popular with tourists especially during the summer months. The village of Gairloch has a vast amount of things on offer to the tourists and locals alike. The attractions within this area include several hotels, a small museum, a golf course, a community centre and also a leisure centre that offers a vast array of sports. There are also some spectacular beaches and mountainous areas within the village.

The area of Gairloch extends over the much larger area and this includes areas such as Kinlochewe and Poolewe. The nearest train station to Gairloch is at Achnasheen and the nearest airport is in Inverness.

The village of Gairloch stretches across the shore of the Loch and the village consists of about three main clusters that comprise of houses, shops and other local amenities. The harbour area of the Gair Loch includes areas such as Charleston that is located on the southern side of the harbour.

The area of Gairloch is affected by the Gulf Stream and due to this the waters in the loch are relatively warm during the summer months and make the beach an ideal place for jellyfish.

The village is served by one main local radio a station that is known as Two Lochs Radio. The local community runs the radio station and it is broadcasted to the central part of Wester Ross.
