The Scottish town of Falkirk is located within the central part of Scotland. The town of Falkirk is located north west of Edinburgh and to the north east of Glasgow. The town of Falkirk has a population of about thirty four thousand and seventy one. The wider are that is known as Falkirk includes places such as Stenhousemuir, Grangemouth and also Larbert. The wider area of Falkirk has a population of about ninety seven thousand one hundred and eighty and this makes it the fifth largest urban within Scotland apart from the cities such as Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Dundee.

The town of Falkirk is located at the point where the Union Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal meet. The location of the town proved to be very beneficial to the economy of Falkirk as it allows for excellent transportation links. The town was a bust location for heavy industry during the time of the Industrial Revolution. During the eighteenth and the nineteenth century the town of Falkirk was at the heart of the large steel and iron industries and this was underpinned by what was known as the Caron Company. Over the last fifty years the heavy industry within the town has declined and the economy of the town is now orientated around the services industries.

Nowadays the town of Falkirk is the main area for retail and it is also the administrative centre for the wider Falkirk area. There is a lot of attraction in and around the area of Falkirk and these include the Antonine Wall, Callendar House and also Falkirk Wheel.
