Elgin is located in Moray in northeastern Scotland, between Aberdeen and Inverness. The Elgin area is well known for its whiskey production and is also home to a cashmere wool factory. There are many sights to see in Elgin and the surrounding area, including the ruins of Elgin cathedral as well as Elgin Museum, which offers exhibits about the local history. There are numerous dining and accommodation options in Elgin as well as in the surrounding area. Visitors will find that there are also numerous opportunities for shopping in the Elgin area as well.

The commercial centre of Moray, Elgin, is one of the authentic cities of Scotland. A well known cathedral city in the literary circles of the historians, this city has always enjoyed a good reputation in the aristocracy and papacy.

Take for an instance it has remained as a Royal Burgh in the early days of 12th century. The same old cathedral remains to this day a striking attraction for the tourists. The Elgin Cathedral preserves the many graves of historic personalities and on the ground floor you can go through the complete history in a single corridor. The cathedral is open for the public and you can enjoy the trip by going through each and every room. In the reformation era, the cathedral has faced extreme sabotage campaigns which eventually left it ruined. The local administration is doing extremely well by spending money on preserving the ornaments of the old glory.

There is another great treat for a history buff, the Biblical Gardens. The complete collection of plants and sculptures mentioned in the Bible are made available just next to the cathedral. These gardens were really seen as a triumph in the early days as they were the only ones in the whole of Scotland.

The Elgin Museum dates back to the middle of 19th century. All the interesting genres that a good museum hosts are present in this remarkable Museum. The fossils from the native land are systematically arranged in the galleries. Throughout the year exhibitions are held that really help in spreading the awareness about the pre historic events.

We hope you enjoy your stay in one of our cheap Elgin hotels, mid range or luxury Elgin hotels.
