Dunstable, located in Bedfordshire, is a traditional market town that is situated just 30 miles north of London. Some of the most interesting sights in the local area include the chalk escarpments that are located in the immediate area, Dunstable Downs. The area is particularly popular for gliding and kite flying. There are numerous sights to enjoy in the local area including the Grove Theater as well as the Priory Church, which is where the divorce between Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIIII was formalized. The shopping district is an excellent place to browse for visitors who enjoy shopping.

The English market town of Dunstable is located within the area that is known as Bedfordshire. The town of Dunstable is located on the Eastern side of the Chiltern Hills and the town of Dunstable is located about thirty miles to the north of the city of London.

During the Roman times the town of Dunstable was better known as Durocobrivis. There are several theories behind the name that the Romans gave to the town.

During the nineteenth century the industry of making straw hats moved to Luton and this resulted in decline of population within the town of Dunstable. During the twentieth century the industry of making straw hats was replaced by the industries of motor vehicles and printing as some of the companies within this area included Vauxhall Motors and Waterlows.

Up until 1966 there was a vast number of shops within the town and these are all centred along the main street that is known as the High Street. The shopping centre that is known as Quadrant opened in 1966 and this quickly became one of the main retail areas within the town.

The town of Dunstable has a strong education network that consists of several middle schools and several upper schools. One of the best middle schools within the area is known as Ashton Middle and this was once known as Dunstable Grammar.

The upper schools are known as Queensbury, The Northfields Technology College and also Manshead. Queensbury has status as a specialist technology college. The Northfields Technology College as the name suggests is a specialist within the field of technology however it is going to become an academic school in the near future. Mansfield upper has status as a specialist within the world of science.
