
The town of Douglas is located on the Isle of Man and it is in fact the capital of the island. The town of Douglas hosts a population of about twenty six thousand. The whole Isle of Man has a population of about eighty thousand and eighty-five. The town of Douglas is situated on the banks of the mouth of the River Douglas. The river actually forms part of the harbour within the town and this is also the primary commercial port for the island. The town of Douglas is the home for the government for the Isle of Man and also the high courts for the island. The town is also the main centre for the islands finance, business, shipping, shopping, entertainment and also transportation.
The town of Douglas is located on the eastern side of the Isle of Man near the point where the River Glass and River Dhoo actually meet. Both of these rivers flow through Douglas quay and then out into the area of Douglas Bay.
There is a slightly sloping valley that runs inland and there are hills located to the southeast and the northwest of the town. The town of Douglas is actually surrounded by a number of smaller villages and towns.
There is a vast number of landmarks within the town of Douglas and these include the tower that is known as Tower of Refuge and this is a small structure a bit like a castle type shelter that has been constructed from Conister Rock and it is located within Douglas Bay.
