The village of Braemar is overlooked on the northwest by Carn na Drochaide, which is eight hundred and eighteen metres in height. Creag Choinnich overlooks the village on the northeast and it is about five hundred and thirty eight meters in height. The village is overlooked on the southwest by Carn na Sgliat which is about six hundred and ninety metres and also by Morrone which is about eight hundred and fifty nine metres in height.
The village of Braemar is one of the coldest places within the United Kingdom and it has an average temperature of about six degrees centigrade. The village of Braemar has entered the weather records of the United Kingdom on two different locations. One of the occasions when the village had the lowest ever recorded temperature within the United Kingdom, which was minus twenty-seven degrees centigrade.
Up until 1891 about fifty nine per cent of the population still spoke Gaelic however over the years this has dramatically decreased and now not very many people speak Gaelic.
