The town was once a market town based around the lace and wool industry built on the intersecting route between Birmingham and London. The town of Brackley has a good transportation network, which is assisted by the closeness of the A43 as this road now bypasses the town. The A43 links the town of Brackley with the towns of Northampton and Towcester. The M40 links the town with areas to the west and the A422 links the town of Brackley with Buckingham and Banbury.

The closest railway station for the town of Brackley is located at Kings Sutton, which is about six miles away. The town of Brackley once had two railway stations these are both now closed.
