Clyde Road, Felpham, Bognor Regis, PO22 7AH Show on map 0.84 miles from Bognor RegisBognor Regis, located in West Sussex, is known as a seaside resort town that is popular with those looking for a holiday location. The town is situated 89 kilometers southwest of London. The town features a fairly large town centre that has become pedestrian friendly. There are several local landmarks including Hotham Park and the Royal Norfolk Hotel. Bognor Regis is easy to reach from surrounding town. The most popular area of town is the seaside and pier. Visitors will find an ample amount of accommodations as well as dining options in Bognor Regis and the surrounding area.
Bognor Regis is located on the south coast of England, and is a small tourist friendly seaside resort. The village at one time was a large fishing industry, but was later converted into the resort town it is today. The village started out slow, but overtime has gained popularity as a place to "get away" and relax. Where once only a few houses stood, now stand lines along the seaside.
The town centre of Bognor Regis is large and attracts tourists far and wide. There are many things to do and see including Queensway, which is a large street lined with stores and shopping. Butlin's Bognor Regis Resort, which opened as Butlin's Holiday Camps in 1960, holds a large indoor park and was mainly build to bring in tourists and keep them entertained. You can always take a walk down the pier while enjoying the light sea breeze and smell of salt water in the air.
One activity you should not miss is the "Birdman" competition, held each summer in the town. It is a contest for human-powered 'flying' machines. Each contestant, voluntarily, launches off the end of the pier in a contest to see who can glide the furthest. The contest is more fun than serious, and more of a battle to see who can come up with the most interesting, bizarre and even eccentric contraptions and outfits. Richard Branson himself, the creator of Virgin, is famous for taking the leap. Unfortunately, in 2008 the Birdman event was canceled at the last minute because 79 feet of the pier needed to be removed. If the Birdman doesn't return, there are many festivals and theatres you may want to enjoy instead.
