
The English town of Basildon is located in the county of Essex. The town is located about twenty-six miles to the east of London and about eleven miles to the south of Chelmsford. The towns that surround the town of Basildon include Wickford to the northeast, Billericay to the north and Benfleet to the east. The town of Basildon was designated as a new town after the Second World War in 1948 and it was designed to take the overspill from London.
