Amersham, situated in Buckinghamshire, is a prosperous market town that is situated some 27 miles north west of London. It is considered to be part of the London commuter belt. There are two areas to Amersham. They are Amersham on the Hill, which was once known as Top Amersham, and Old Amersham. Old Amersham is home to a variety of pubs as well as the parish church that dates back to the 13th Century. The English market town of Amersham is located within the district of Chiltern and this district is located within the area of Buckinghamshire. The market town of Amersham is also a civil parish. The town of Amersham is located about twenty-seven miles to the north west of the city of London. The town is included in the commuter belt of London.

The town of Amersham is separated into two different distinctive areas and these are known as Amersham that is on the hill and this is often called Top Amersham. Top Amersham is located near the towns railway station. The other part of Amersham is known as Old Amersham and this area is home to the parish church that dates back to the thirteenth century. The parish church is known as St Mary's. The part that is known as Old Amersham is also home to several coaching inns and public houses. The old part of the town is located in the valley of the town and over the years it has developed into the area that it is nowadays.

The town of Amersham is located within the valley with the old part of the town being located on the floor of the valley. The River Misbourne that is located within the town is a chalk stream that dries up periodically.

In the olden days the town of Amersham was concerned with the marketing of local grain and a lot of this was sold to merchants within the city of London. During the seventeenth and eighteenth century the main industry within the town was brewing. Over the years there have been other popular industries within the town that includes lace manufacturing, brewing, tanning and also brick making.
