My friend and I have just returned from a week at Whitby - we stayed at the Arches Guesthouse. I felt I really must write and tell you what a fantastic guesthouse it is. I just couldn't fault it, the owners Mr & Mrs Brew really did go out of their way to make their guests feel very welcome and comfortable, nothing was too much trouble, it was superb. I think they really aught to be commended."

| "Letter sent to WHICH Good B&B Guide: I am writing to tell you about The Arches, where I stayed for 4 days while visiting Whitby, England, for the dedication of the city's new whale bone arch. I have been staying in B&Bs for over 20 years in America, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland and France. I normally do not write letters of recommendation for B&Bs. However, I found The Arches to be exceptional. The proprieters, Mr and Mrs Brew, are wonderful people. Their B&B is very clean, well maintained and an all round pleasure. Its location is excellent, quiet and close to everything. The beds were great as was the food. I am a very tall person who finds B&Bs too cramped. The Arches was not at all difficult for me to get around. I commend it to your attention."
